(6/5) -Power Rankings from OBL Insider Scott Styles

5. Austin (0-2) Austin’s team has struggled to get their offense moving without a clear starting point guard. While Tony’s offensive abilities have clearly improved from the past few seasons he still isn’t quite what the team needs to fill the position. Chris H has also been taking the ball up on some possessions but hasn’t been able to find much success either. This team clearly has talent but without a strong point guard they have all been suffering. Consistent players like Harrison C and Matt F haven’t been themselves on this team and potential big game players in Austin K and Tommy M haven’t been themselves either. They play with a lot of heart but if they don’t change something they might not be able to get a win or move up this list.

4. Conor (1-1) Conor’s team pulled out a double overtime win this week after getting dominated by Shawn’s team week one. Conor M has continued his superstar level play from last year already breaking the 50-point barrier in just 2 games. Unfortunately, Conor has been the only player on his team to make big contributions.  The rest of his team has played ok supportively but Jack D is the only other player to make big offensive contributions and only in the first game. Kyle V only played the second game but has continued to show well defensively. A big question mark for Conor’s team is Gareth C. He wasn’t at either of the first two games so we will have to see if that was bad game timing or if we won’t be seeing much of Gareth this season.

3. Seth (1-1) Seth’s team opened with a 13-point win over Austin’s team week 1 but lost in overtime this week to Owen’s team. Seth has continued to show well with solid shooting percentage and point output his first two games. Will R and Kevin S have both made pretty good offensive contributions, but neither has broken out as a clear second on the team. For supportive players Alex R has been playing very well pulling down lots of boards and adding more offensively and defensively than previous years. On the other hand, Tommy D seems to have lost some of his touch with his normal consistency nowhere to be found. Both Adam P and Cole S missed the first game but played well in the teams second. It seems like this team is just missing a little something which could potentially be Noah Y. Much like Gareth for Conor’s team we will have to see if Noah’s absence has just been a fluke or if its going to be a trend.

2. Owen (1-1) Owen’s team started the year off with a tough schedule and came out of it 1-1. While Evan hasn’t brought his huge point games that we’ve seen in the past, but he has still been producing solid points, fantastic defense, and great opportunities for the rest of his team. Sam C has shown himself to be a solid offensive threat once again this season with his usual strong inside game as well as some added range. He also seems to be bringing more defensive support with him this season. Owen H has been an excellent compliment to Evan with both playing point guard, providing good passes, and posing three threats making opposing defensives unsure of what’s coming next. As for the rest of the team Charlie J and Defrim N while only playing one game each played very well adding on a good amount of points and playing a high energy game. Matt M has been a good secondary option down low and from mid-range but needs to be a little more confident under the hoop. Brett S seems to have been off his game a little in these first two weeks missing his standard point output. I’m just chalking this one up to early season nerves and hopefully we will get to see our usual Sherm later this season.

1. Shawn (2-0) Shawn’s team started this year out with a bang breaking the 70-point barrier for the 3rd time in OBL history. Shawn took some risks in this year’s draft but so far, the all seem to be panning out. As a team they have been playing fantastic basketball. Their shooting percentage has been great with their leading three scorers Ryan L, Pat D, and Shawn D shooting 45%, 36%, and 34% respectfully. The team has also generated 27 assists in just two games which is unheard of in the OBL. This may be due to the spot up shooting style of Ryan L and Pat D, but nonetheless it’s impressive. Ryan has continued to be the fantastic ball player that he is and it seems like Pat and Shawn have stepped their game up even more this year. These three alongside the supporting veterans of Cooper K and Tyler P makes a strong team without even taking into consideration the favorite for rookie of the year Ray B. While not quite the point machine some expected him to be, he has been playing with high energy, showing lots of dedication, and pulling down tons of boards. With big 15 and 16-point wins to start off the year and no signs of slowing down Shawn’s team is definitely the favorite for the OBL championship right now.

(6/15) -Power Rankings from OBL Insider Scott Styles

6. Conor’s team earned its first win this week against an understaffed Austin’s team. This is only the second time Conor’s top 5 have been together and when they are they actually look pretty good. Noah Y has certainly turned around from his performance last year and is finding a place on Conor’s team. Defrim N is also starting to find his stride on this team having his best season to start with a few weeks remaining. Although they still remain at the bottom of the power rankings I still think there is hope for this team.

5. Austin’s team wasn’t able to pull out another win in their last two games and it seems like their problem is scoring points. They only have 189 points after 5 games which is less than some others have in 4 games. The defense on this team seems to be pretty consistent but they need to figure out something better for offense. In the team’s defense, they have been missing one of the key offensive players in every game except for one which they lost to the undefeated Owen’s team by 5. The only real consistent scoring the team has had is with 3’s. The team has a combined 15 3’s being led by Chris H who had 3 3’s in a span of 3 minutes and 33 seconds in his last game.

4. Kyle’s team is in a very strange situation as they will be losing their captain for the rest of the season. This obviously is a big hit to the team but they still have a lot of talent. Tommy M and Joel S have both had strong seasons so far and Gareth C just broke the scoring record last week. Kevin S hasn’t had as great of an offensive game this year as others but as always, he is a very strong defensive presence. The big problem the team will face is having someone take the ball up and filling the leadership role on the team. I could see Tommy or Kevin filling the ball carrying position and only time will tell who will take up the leadership role.

3. Jack’s team has fared much better than most expected after they lost Seth B to San Diego. They have seen good scoring from Kip M and Harrison C as expected but they have also seen a great increase in production from Jack C and Cole S. Jack nearly scored as much as he did all last season in just one game and as always is a great defensive asset. Cole S has nearly tripled his career points and doesn’t look like he will be slowing down anytime soon. The problem this team is facing is attendance. They seem to be operating with just a 6-man roster which is hard especially this season when scheduling has been even more difficult than normal. If they are able to get a full team to games they could still be a big threat even without their fifth-round pick.

2. Shawn’s team has been working really well together since they got Jake R back. Jake, Brendan C, and Ryan L have all had fantastic seasons so far and are making the team a real competitor. Similarly to Jack’s team, Shawn may be facing some roster issues as the season goes on. They have already lost Jason C and will be losing Charlie J and haven’t been having very good attendance from any one picked after the 4th round. They did pick up Donnie N but he hasn’t actually played a game for the team yet. Other than roster issues the team has been looking great recently and will have a great shot at getting the bye from their division.

1. Owen’s team embraced Sam C after he got back after the first couple weeks and he and the whole team have been playing very well together. The question of defense has been answered with no problems and Kyle V especially has been contributing a lot. Owen’s 7th round pick was definitely a good one. The worry for Owen’s team is that through 5 wins they only have a point differential of only 18 points. A win is a win but with such small margins it brings up the question of whether Owen’s wins have come from all skill or some luck.

(5/29) -Power Rankings from OBL Insider Scott Styles

6. Conor’s team hasn’t been able to get a win in their first three games of the season, but that doesn’t necessarily make them a bad team. This team has a lot of talent and scoring capability but their team work and defense is what is lacking. Conor’s team is averaging just below 50 points a game which should be enough to win but hasn’t been. This team needs to try and figure out a defense that will work for them which could be difficult with the team’s surplus of big men. This works to their advantage in rebound strength but hurts them because it is a very unusual structure to have in the OBL. I don’t think this team is bad but they need to change something if they are going to win games.

5. Austin’s team looks like it should work on paper but hasn’t been working on the court. A team with both of last season’s MVP candidates, the 2015 rookie of the year, the OBL’s leader in 3’s, and last year’s defensive player of the year as a starting 5 should be dominating this year but they aren’t. Clearly something isn’t working for them as they’re only 1-2 with their win coming from a team without two of their top three players. They are in a similar situation as the one Conor’s team is in; they have the talent but they don’t have the chemistry. They just don’t seem to be clicking on the court and have to figure out why in order to start winning.

4. Shawn’s team started the season with two thrilling games that came down to a basket each and resulted in a win and a loss for the team. In their third game Shawn was able to beat Conor by the biggest margin of the season with the return of second round pick Jake R. The team demonstrated some great basketball and it was fun to watch. Going into the season my concern for this team was if they were going to be able to put points on the board with Ryan L being the only one who averages more than 10 points a game. However, the whole team has been contributing this year and if players like Brendan C, Jason C, and John B can keep contributing points this team could have a lot of potential.

3. Kyle’s team may be 1-2 but that record shouldn’t fool anyone into thinking they aren’t good. Much like last year Kyle’s team hasn’t lost a game by more than one basket this year and in both loses they were at a disadvantage they normally wouldn’t face. When playing Jack’s team, they played his top six including Seth B who will no longer be playing this year because he is out of the state (Seems like a waste of a fifth-round pick). In their loss against Austin’s team they were missing their captain Kyle B and second round pick Kevin S who both would have added a lot to the team. While these loses hurt their chances at a bye this year I don’t think fans of Kyle’s team should be too worried about how they will perform in the playoffs.

2. Jack’s team is 2-0 right now but that could be a little deceiving because former OBL captain Seth B was the best player on the team for both games and will no longer be able to play this year. They are getting the benefit of the doubt with this spot because they are undefeated and they may have just been letting Seth get as much playing time and points in while he was able to. Even without Seth this team has a superstar in Kip M and some nice talent backing him up as well. This team just needs to make sure they adjust their game plan into something that will still work for them now that Seth is gone.

1. Owen’s team has been able to start their season 2-0 without their second-round pick Sam C. The whole team has been able to pick up some of this slack with no-one really having a bad start to their season and many players having great ones. If they are able to keep this performance and attendance with the addition of Sam C they should be in very good shape for the season. My concerns for this team are if they have a defensive structure. Their team seems to switch up the defense often which is very risky but has been working out for them so far. This may just be improvising from captain Owen H while he is waiting for the return of Sam but it could also be a weakness that other teams need to take advantage of.

(5/26) Power Rankings- The power rankings for both week 4 and 5 are now out.

Oakbourne Basketball League News

(5/26) OBL Insider Scott Styles’s power rankings for week five-

6. Shawn’s team looked like they might win their first game this week but unfortunately it slipped away at the end of the game. The wet conditions definitely limited the score but Pat D and Noah Y both managed to score 12 and Shawn D, Jack D, and Aris T also scored. The team showed some promise this week and if they can get Jack C and Donnie at their games too they could actually win a game.

5. Owen’s team got beaten by Seth’s team this week 60 to 37. What makes this even worse is that their leading scorer Conor M isn’t even on the team. To be fair though they were missing Kip M and Sam C two of the team’s best players. Another plus for the team was that Owen H and Brett S both had good days scoring 10 points each. Jay B also scored his first three this game. Once the team is back to full strength they will be looking better and will be a much tougher matchup.

4.  Jack’s team edged out Kyle’s team by a point this week to get their second win of the season. Brian B returned to the team this week and contributed a much needed 18 points. Everyone on the team had points this week notably Will R with 9 and Charlie J with 8. The team still hasn’t been able to get their big three of Brian B, Will R, and Gareth C, together at once and could be a serious threat if they do. They especially need to get Gareth to a game if they want him to be eligible for the playoffs.

3. Conor’s team beat Shawn’s team this week 47-37. Unfortunately Harrison C had a bad game this week but the rest of the team did well with Ryan L scoring 15, Conor M scoring 12, Blaise D scoring a career high 10, and Paul G scoring 6 which is more than he has had since season one. Despite a slow start the team looked good by the end of the game and if they manage to get their best 5 to a game next week may have a shot at beating Seth’s team.

2.  Kyle’s team suffered a heart breaking loss to Jack’s team this week 45-44. However, the team was low on players this week having to pick up a free agent to play. What especially hurt the team was the absence of Kyle B and Tommy M. Kyle’s team has now lost two games by one point simply because they were short a player or two. Despite the loss the team did well especially Austin K who scored over 20 for the third week in a row. Chris H also had a great game scoring 14 with two threes. Kyle’s other two members Jake R and Mike R added 4 and 2 points respectively. Also congratulations to Jake R for breaking the record for most assists in a game with 6.

1. Seth’s team got a 60-37 win over a weakened Owen’s team this week. Evan W had another solid week with 20 points and 63% shooting. The rest of the team also added on points with good contributions from Seth B and Perry C. It looks like no team can touch Seth’s team and if they beat Conor’s team this week they will secure the bye.

(5/26) OBL Insider Scott Styles’s power rankings for week four-

6. Shawn’s team took another loss this week making them 0-4. Shawn has games against Seth and Conor coming up which will be hard to win so their only chance of winning a game may be against Jack’s team in week six. That being said the team didn’t look that bad this week. Shawn D, Pat D, and Jack C all had solid games and Phil C, and Jason C contributed a basket each as well. If Shawn can get Donnie to the upcoming games they might be able to pull together a win. Donnie is also becoming a worry for playoff eligibility as he needs to play in 2 of the teams remaining 3 games.

5. Jack’s team was shown no mercy this week against Seth’s team. They lost by 49 points the most in OBL history. Even though the team was missing their star player Brian B this loss was still terrible. The only positive in the game was that Gareth C made it to his first game this season and everyone on the team had at least one basket. If Jack’s team wants to avoid “Putting up the worst display of basketball in OBL history”-Kyle B they are going to need to get their defense together, and hope Brian is around.

4.  Owen’s team suffered a close loss against Conor’s team losing by 2 points. Kip M had a fantastic game putting up 21 points in 3 quarters. Cooper and Owen also did well scoring 12 and 6 points respectively. Chiz was also able to get his first points of the season with his first career three. Unfortunately for the team Sam C had to watch from the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury. Hopefully he will be able to recover quickly as he has been a huge asset to the team.

3. Conor’s team pulled off a win this week making them tied for the ball division bye. Conor’s team only had three members at the game this week but they all did well especially who had a career best of 18 points and 56% shooting. Ryan L had an unusually quiet game with only 8 points which he scored all of in the second half. However everyone will have a bad game and I’m sure Ryan will be a great asset in the upcoming weeks.

2.  Kyle’s team picked up a win this week over Shawn’s team. They also scored 50 points which may become important when fighting for seeding. Austin K had another amazing performance this week shooting 50% and scoring 24 points. Kyle B also had a good game with 14 points and Tommy M, Mike R, and Tony L also had points. The team lacked Jake R this week and may have reached 60 points if he was there. If the team wants Jake to be playoff eligible they need to make sure he makes it to another game.

1. Seth’s team scored the most points ever in an OBL game this week against a Brian-less Jack’s team. Evan W had a amazing game shooting 54% and scoring 28 points including 2 threes. Seth B also had a great game with 20 points. The rest of the team also scored at least one basket. The team is definitely and offensive threat and they proved to be a defensive one this week too. The only negative for the team was that they refused to let fan favorite Dan E play even when they were leading by over 40 points.

(4/7) OBL Insider Scott Styles’s power rankings for week three-

6. Shawn’s team was forced to take a forfeit this week to Conor’s team which is never good for a team. It is a big hit to the moral of the team to have to lose a game that wasn’t even played especially a game that was in division. Shawn’s team will be able to face Conor’s team again week five and we will have to see how they do then.

5. Owen’s team had to play without their captain this week which is always hard to do. They kept the game close until the end but ended up losing 60-46 to Jack’s team giving them their first lose. Even without the captain the team performed well especially Kip M who had 24 points and 2 assists with 41% shooting. Kip also had two dunks in the game which will certainly get him into the top 10 again this week. The rest of the team also had solid contributions with Sam C having 10 points and Brett S having 6. Unfortunately the excellent defense we have been seeing so far fell apart without Owen. The team also shot way too many unnecessary threes that could have been prevented by Owen.

4.  Jack’s team had a great performance this week beating Owen’s team and putting up 60 points in the process. Both Jack D and Will R had fantastic turn arounds from last week putting up 18 points and 16 points this week. Brian B was finally able to relax a little this week putting up 12 points and getting 3 assists. Charlie J and Tommy D also had good contributions with 6 points each. This team showed some potential this week and if they are able to get Brian B, Will R, and Gareth C on the court at the same time they could be a serious threat.

3. Conor’s team took a forfeit win over Shawn this week but they were projected to get a win anyway. While the team had a rough game last week against Seth I think this will give them some time to recover and they will be ready for their game next week.

2. Kyle’s team was able to stop the dream of an undefeated season for Seth this week with a 56-47 win. Kyle’s team played without their captain and a second round pick this week but was still able to play an excellent game thanks to Austin K and Tommy M. Austin had his career best this week with 28 points and 58% shooting and Tommy M also had a great game with 18 points. The team seemed to play fine without their captain which shows how dangerous they will be with him.

1. Seth’s team may have lost this week but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still on top. They were missing their best three players in their game and still managed to keep it close. Both Matt F and Brendan C had double digit games and Dan E also managed to score his first basket. They also held Kyle’s leas to 3 until the last two minutes. Seth’s team is still looking good and will be a powerhouse again once they get all their players back.

(5/3) Playoffs- As playoffs approach captains should be aware that the rules this season say that a player needs to play two games for their team to be eligable for playoffs. This is a list of players who are currently not eligable for playoffs and how many games they need.

(4/7) OBL Insider Scott Styles’s power rankings for week two-

6. Shawn’s team redeemed themselves this week, losing to Owen’s team by only six. Pat D led the team with 10 points, Shawn D and Noah Y had 6 points each, and Jack C, Jason C, and John B, had a basket each. The team looked much better than last week actually trying to pass the ball and moving it in toward the basket. There were way less deep shots that were unnecessary and ended up giving the ball to the other team. The big problem Shawn’s team faced was thee terrible shooting percentage. The team shot just below 19% which is a large improvement from last week but is still bad. If Shawn’s team wants to get out of this bottom spot they are going to need to improve their shooting or at least get more rebounds from their missed shots.

5. Jack’s team lost 35-23 to Kyle’s team this week but the game wasn’t even that close. Brian B was again forced to carry the team and without a great performance from him the team didn’t stand a chance. Matt M did have a decent game with 6 points and Cole S also got his second career basket but other than that the team was quiet. It was an especially disappointing performance from the captain with zero points. The team has good supporting players but they will definitely need Will R and Gareth C to get to their games if they want to be a threat in this league.

4. Owen’s team did pick up a win this week but it was against the worst team in the league and only by six. It does seem that they let up a bit at the end but this makes me worry if the defense will be able to stand up against teams with bigger offensive threats like Seth’s and Conor’s. On offense they did well with the exception of Owen who didn’t have any points this week. Kip M and Sam C both had 12 points, Tyler P and Brett S both had 4 points, and Jay also had a basket. Sam C especially is stepping up for his team and he is going to prove to be hard to stop in the upcoming weeks. Tyler P also performed well on offense in his OBL debut but mainly on defense. He definitely led the team in rebounds and made sure to make the best of these gained possessions.

3. Conor’s team got beat badly by Seth’s team this week which was a disappointing. They have a great team on paper and a lot of potential but unfortunately it didn’t come together for them this week. Conor M and Ryan L did most of the work with 12 points each but Harrison C and Defrim N also contributed 4 each. One of the main problems with Conor’s team this week was not taking advantage of their subs. Four of their five players were almost always on the floor and they really only subbed with their fifth spot. With three extra guys on the bench they should have made sure to use those fresh legs more often.

2. Kyle’s team had a great game against Jack’s team particularly on the defensive side. Even without Tony “Lock down Lee” they were able to hold Jack’s team to 23 points and also largely limited the effect of Brian B. This has been a very difficult task for teams in the past and proves Kyle has a very solid defensive unit. The only problems they are having on defense are their fouls. They have over double the fouls for any other team and Chris H is already halfway to the foul record in just two weeks. Kyle’s team also greatly benefited from the return of Austin K and Jake R this week. Jake R had one of his best games ever going 6 for 10 with 2 assists. He proved his value on the team and definitely made Kyle happy he traded up to pick him in the draft. Austin K also had a great game pulling down rebounds all over the place and dominating the game with his height. He also added 8 points for Kyle’s team. Kyle’s teams other issue is their offensive presence. Particularly Kyle B’s offense has been lacking this season with only half as many points as last year so far. If they end up in a tie at the end of the year for a seeding bye I don’t see them outscoring the teams of Seth or Conor.

1. Seth’s team had a fantastic game this week beating Conor’s team by 27. Conor’s team is certainly not an easy win and with such a dominant win Seth’s team is going to be hard to beat. Seth’s team was consistent this week with large contributions from Evan W, Seth B, and Kevin S again and smaller contributions throughout the rest of the team. Evan W had a fantastic game going 12 for 24 which is the most points in a game so far this season. Seth B and Kevin S also scored double digits again this week shooting 37% and 33% respectively. Seth’s team already has a point differential of 64 which is more than any team at the end of last year. If Seth’s team beats Kyle’s team next week without Seth they very well could get the second undefeated season in OBL history.

(4/7) Trade- Jack's team has traded Aris T to Shawn's team. OBL Insider Juan Francisco reports that Aris will be on a 10 day contract and his position on the team will be assessed again after the next game.

(4/6) Week 2- All pages have been updated for this week except for the career stats

(3/21) OBL Insider Scott Styles’s power rankings for week one.

6. Shawn’s team definitely deserves to be on the bottom of the power rankings at the end of week one by putting up only 18 points which is the second lowest ever in an OBL game. The captain and first two picks only combined for 12 points and shot just over 11%. Luckily Phil C was able to add another 6 points to save the team from scoring the least points ever.  Overall the team looked sloppy and unorganized. They were all taking deep 2’s or 3’s and not taking the easy layups that all teams should take advantage of. In the team’s defense, they were missing Jack C and Donnie N, two of the team’s top picks, who will add some defense, speed, and hopefully points.

5. Jack’s team, or should I say Brian, put up a good fight against Conor’s team this week. Going into this one vs. six seed matchup not much was expected from Jack’s team but they proved this wrong by sticking with Conor’s team for the first two quarters. Unfortunately in the third they fell behind and despite a good effort in the fourth they lost. The problem the team had was that they couldn’t support Brian enough. Brian played all 40 minutes and had to play for the whole team. Jack managed to put up 11 points but the rest of the team did poorly and most of the baskets they scored were because Brian set it up. On the positive side the defense the team ran seemed to work well (except in the third quarter) breaking up many plays and getting lots of steals. The team also played this week with a limited Will R and without Gareth C who should return soon from his hamstring injury.

4. Owen’s team showed some great potential Friday against Kyle’s team with a good defensive stand and solid performances from most of the team. Owen and Sam both put up 8 points which was good in such a defensive game and Jay got his first basket after coming out of retirement. Kip had 12 points on his OBL debut and some are beginning to doubt if he should have been the first pick overall. I think that Kip was just getting used to the atmosphere of the OBL and he also played in a very defensive game. I think he will show his true talent in the upcoming weeks, but we will have to see if he proves me right. Another thing to look for on Owen’s team in the upcoming weeks is Tyler P. Tyler was fantastic at the combine and will defiantly add a lot to the team if Owen can get him to show to games.

3. Kyle’s team faced a disappointing loss against Owen’s team where it came down to one basket. The game showed that Kyle’s team had a solid defensive unit, especially with Tony who was tasked with difficult job of manning Kip. It is also important to remember that Kyle was missing his 1st pick Austin, who is a much needed big man on his team, and his 3rd pick Jake, who adds a physical presence and another scoring threat.  These two would defiantly have made the one point difference and Owen will face a much tougher opponent in week 6.

2. Conor’s team was ranked the best team in the league after the draft and this week had to try and prove that they deserved it. On Sunday they were missing Harrison and Defrim, both solid players who would have helped the team greatly. Conor’s team probably did as well as they could have without these two but not quite good enough to grab the top spot in the rankings. Ryan put up a solid 23 points (the most this week) and also added another dunk to his stats. The rest of the team also did well with Conor having 14, Charlie having 6, and in their first game in the OBL Alex R and Will H had 8 and 2 respectively. This shows that Conor’s team is full of threats especially once they get the whole team together. The week two matchup against Seth’s team will defiantly be a good one.

1. Seth’s team earned the number one spot this week by beating Shawn’s team by 37, the most in OBL history. Although Shawn’s team was horrific this week that does not take away from how well Seth’s team did. Evan, Kevin, and Seth all did well this week with double digit points and a three each. The rest of the league defiantly needs to recognize the threat Seth’s team is from beyond the arc. The rest of the tam had small contributions on offense but did very well as a defensive unit keeping Shawn’s team to only 18 points, the second lowest ever. Seth’s team is defiantly the team to beat especially when they get their physical threat Joel back next game.

(2/21) OBL Breaking News- OBL Insider Edith Townsend has recently reported some huge news regarding the upcoming draft which is now less than 20 days away. Perry, a projected first round pick, was injured while lifting and preparing for the upcoming season. He is still waiting for an examination from a medical professional but was quoted saying “It hurt more than when I tore it”. This injury will defiantly affect the draft greatly but we will have to wait to see what the doctors have to say to determine the magnitude of the injury. In wake of this news OBL insider Edith Townsend made a mock draft taking into the news into account. OBL insider Juan Francisco, and Charlie also made mock drafts but without taking he news into account.

(12/5) Season 3 Draft Order- the lottery for the draft was held yesterday. The number of balls was determined by a mix of team performance last year and skill of the captain. Owen was given five balls, Jack was given four balls, Conor was given three balls, Seth and Shawn were given two balls, and Kyle was given one ball. If you want to see it for yourself it is right below but the order ended up being Owen, Jack, Seth, Conor, Kyle, Shawn.

(11/22) Season 3 Draft- this year we will bring back the same six captains as we had last year. The draft this year will be a normal snake draft instead of the fixed first round we had last year. The order for picks will be determined by a lottery that will be weighted based of of skill of the captain and performance in last years playoffs. The lottery will happen sometime soon hopefully in the next few weeks.

(11/22) All-Star Game- the All-Star game votes have all been counted and those who made the team are Brian B, Kyle B, Evan W, Conor M, Seth B, Ryan L, Chris H, Jake R, Will R, Austin K, Brett S, Jack C, Kevin S, Shawn D. The back ups if needed are Tommy M and Jack D. When the game will take place is still being figured out but it looks like it will be sometime next week or will be the weekend of this years draft.

(11/19) All-Star Game- Votes are still being taken tomorrow for Saturday's All-Star game but so far both Brian B and Kyle B have secured spots on the game. The three point contest will also take place on saturday and anyone who has scored a three in a game can compete.

(3/30) Week 3 game- Games may be posponed this week because of the amount of people leaving over spring break but if any games do happen they will be added on the schedule page as soon as possible.

(3/30) Week 2 games- all pages have been updated for week 2 games.

(3/8) Special Thank You- I would like to give a special thank you to the leagues own Cole Seaman for helping me bring the draft news and events to you as quickly as possible by giving his time and effort to the Oakbourne Basketball League.

(3/7) Draft- The draft took place today and the results can be seen on the season 2 rosters page. If you were not drafted you can still join a team through free agency if a captain wants to pick you up. The divisions were decided after the draft to be Seth, Kyle, and Owen in the ball division and Conor, Shawn, and Jack in the sack division. You can see all the draft information under the Draft Season 2 section of the website. Congratulations to all those who were picked and good luck this season.

(2/23) League- the Oakbourne Basketball League is planned to start back up on Friday March 20th with  a new group of captains that was selected to hopefully even teams out. There will be six teams again this year with three returning captains and three new captains. The returning captains from last year are Conor, Kyle, and Seth. The new captains for this year are Jack D, Shawn, and Owen. The draft is planned for some time in early march to give time for teams to get organized before the actual season starts. Once the draft happens the new rosters will be put up on the Rosters page under season 2. Congratulations to all the captains and good luck this season.

(2/9) Season 1- it has been decided that the first season is officially over and that we will not be finishing playoffs like previously thought. In order to make sure the second season is finished this year we need the most time possible to get the amount of games needed in which means we will not have time to finish the first season. It also may have been confusing to play on one team for two weeks then re-draft teams with no time in-between and continue playing through the next season. It has also been decided that there will be no league champions until the second season is finished.

(2/23) Draft- This year the draft will be eight rounds long with the first two rounds fixed and the next six in a snake. The order of the fixed section will be Owen with the first pick, Jack with the second, Shawn with the third, Kyle with the fourth, Seth with the fifth, and Conor with the sixth. The snake section will then start in the reverse order starting with Conor.

(3/4) Draft- Perry C, a projected first round pick, has been placed on the injury reserve due to his need of surgery.  This is very disappointing for captains hoping to have Perry on their team as they will have to look elsewhere. Captain Seth Beard said "I am deeply saddened by the news that Perry will not be able to participate in the OBL and I wish him the quickest recovery possible".
